Return Crew Day 2 – 09 February 2020

A log by Cam

As the day continued on yesterday we finally got to eat something nice and hot!! Woopeeee, let’s just say we could not be happier to eat 2 aka 5 minute noodles. We threw some mixed herbs, salt, pepper and the famous sachets that come with the noodles! For tonight’s main topic we somehow ended up discussing stem cell replacement! Don’t ask me how, because frankly I just don’t have an answer to that.

Night shift was alright, we were welcomed with the full moon once again as well as the stars. These were good company through the long two hour shifts we faced. Some of us have started to develop their sea legs and slowly but surely are spending more time in the saloon (main sleeping/ cooking area).

We all learned something yesterday and that being from Tony! He taught us that if you wash your eggs (with water) that the egg loses a protective layer allowing for the egg to go off! How interesting? We were completely shocked; hope some of you learnt something new too!

We were welcomed this morning with very strong winds causing us to go sailing at knots of 7/8. Rory sleeping very peacefully heard talk of reefing and a very skew boat causing him to be woken up. He rushed out to get us to reef the genoa in as we later realized after the whole process that Rory had his shirt on the wrong way round!

After much debate a name for the chunder (some are still recovering) container was given a name! Aka the Chum bucket!! (Some of you might be wondering where you have heard this name before!). Interesting fact, this name was derived from SpongeBob square pants as some of you might remember! It is where Plankton made his “krabby patties”. Also ‘chum’ suited the name as one seemed to hug the bucket quite firmly, I still ponder why? Any takers?

We are all in good health and are eating good well balanced meals such as oats and are debating to eat vegetable biryani tonight! Morale and excitement is high, though some peeps on board be scared Tony throws too much curry powder in. Guess you will find out how that goes tomorrow! The weather has done as predicted and we are on course to point 30 / 30, allowing us to head more East.

Tony aka Thanos from ’End Game ‘is 57 and is born and bred in East Africa who has 4 kids and is an aviator. He has done some deep sea fishing and is doing this trip to gain some miles. On return he would like to buy a Cat gin palace! Not sure if I spelt that right!
