Past racing experience

JML Rotary Scout took part in the Cape to Rio Race in 2000, crewed by teenagers. The skipper was 20 years old! They did very well, achieving a creditable 2nd place in their class.

The yacht has taken part in five Governor’s Cup Yacht Races with youth crewing every time… in December 2010 and again in 2012/13 JML Rotary Scout won the Cruising Class of the Governor’s Cup Yacht Race and came 2nd overall on handicap! On board were six youth between the ages of 14 and 18 and two adult co-skippers.

In January 2014 it is intended to enter a development team who will be trained to again participate in the Cape to Rio Yacht Race
