Day 2 – Tropical paradise
We sailed into Ile Grande last night and realized that we were in a little piece of paradise. The bay was sheltered and offered safe anchorage and it wasn’t long before we were preparing sushi from the days catch.
We woke early and sorted out a few boat repairs and made several swims to and from the beach to collect burgers for breakfast from the local café.
We established that we had not filled the spare fresh water canisters, so Pat and Uwe set forth into the rainforest in search of a source of fresh water.
They eventually negotiated with the local fresh produce market to sell us water at half price as we provided our own containers.
Meanwhile Peter was testing out the shore break by paddling to the beach on Joey’s 5’10 surfboard. The “stoke” was high.
The crew then dragged 100 litres of fresh water on a trolley across the beach , much to the ridicule of the locals. It was then loaded onto a water taxi and safely transported to the yacht.
5 o’clock heralded sundowners and Sean produced 2 loafs of freshly baked ciabatta that wentdown well with peanut butter and honey.
On the menu tonight at JML RS is Uwe’s Thai Green Chicken Curry, prepared with spices that travelled in Sean’s suitcase ,therefore having made the transatlantic crossing 3 times before even reaching the yacht’s galley.
