Day 2 – The awakening
After oranges and apples for lunch yesterday, the crew more or less found their feet. We reached the trade winds, but the swells were still reaching up 4 – 5 meters and all over the place. The sea is becoming progressively bluer as we head into the trade winds, and occasional sightings of pertrels, gulls, albatrosses, gannets, dolphins and flying fish. A few fishing and shipping boats have been sighted.
We finished the pasta bolognaise for supper.
The sea state is still too inconsistent to hoist the spinnaker, but we are are goosewinging.
Last night the autohelm went flat, so we had lots of fun and hands-on helming experience.
Wendy has been dubbed the ‘mom’ of the boat and is making sure everyone eats and wears lifejackets, and karaoke has been the main entertainment of the day, keeping everybody smiling. Everyone is settling into the routine, even daring to venture below decks and becoming more adventurous in our eating patterns.
