Day 18
The reading and chilling commence. We have rationed out certain foods like proNutro and jam, and continue to catch fish (that are too small to eat) which we release.
The majority of the day was extremely calm and relaxed – the motor was stopped and we all swam around the boat, the water almost completely flat! The crew really enjoyed the peaceful break from the engine (after hearing it for almost 24 hours). The water was so clear we could see the light rays travelling down for about 10-15m, and it was extremely blue. The surface was warm, but about half a meter down it was a degree or two colder, which made for a fun swim through the different temperature patches. There were also various micro-organisms floating around, and the crew thoroughly enjoyed their swim after the hot and sweaty day.
Towards the end of the day the wind finally started picking up – enough to not need the motor. The peace and quiet is much appreciated by all the crew.
